He did not hesitate to seize the opportunity when he decided that this had to be a location for his next movie. A year later, we are here in Lagos for the movie premiere to watch the much anticipated movie 10 Days in Sun City.

We saw this partnership as an opportunity not only to showcase South Africa as a holiday and business destination but also as a platform to encourage inter-Africa travel. It is important for Africans to explore their own land and discover its people. It is through travel and tourism that we can learn about each other's historical and cultural heritages.

Tourism, entertainment, arts and culture are the key sectors that have the potential to unify this continent through people to people relations for the better advancement of Africa. We are seeing this more and more lately through music collaborations, comedy and now movies. I trust we will see more of such partnerships and collaborations.  Africa united, only greater things can come. “

Lebanon to ban Wonder Woman film because lead actress is Israeli

Lebanon has called for ban of the new Wonder Woman movie because its lead actress, Gal Gadot, is an Israeli, AP reports.

A security official said a formal request for a ban has not yet been received. A ban would require a recommendation from a six-member committee from the Ministry of Economy, a process that has not yet began, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to reporter.

The premiere of Wonder Woman is scheduled for Wednesday in at least one cinema in Beirut. Posters of the movie and digital billboards have sprouted up around the Lebanese capital.

Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and has a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling or having contacts with Israelis. The two countries have been through a number of wars, including a particularly devastating one in 2006 that battered Lebanon’s infrastructure and left hundreds dead.

A group called Campaign to Boycott Supporters of Israel-Lebanon has pressed an effort against the movie. On its Facebook page, the campaign said Gadot was a soldier in the Israeli army and has expressed support for Israel’s military policies against the Gaza Strip, a coastal Palestinian territory run by the militant group Hamas.

“The state took the right decision,” Samah Idriss, a member of the boycott campaign told The Associated Press. “We now await the implementation. … Even if it is one hour before the show, they should ban it anyway”

For hundreds of thousands of fans, the news is a dream come true, as they anxiously await the next adventure. And, with the recent engagement of Banky W and Adesua Etomi, who got married as Dozie and Dunni in the original film, the anticipation has reached fever pitch on social media.

The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai brings us up to date with the newly-married couple who are now expecting a baby. Is reformed bachelor Dozie ready for this? Felix and Obianuju are still working on their relationship – but has he given up ‘Small Chops’ for good? Everyone’s favourite character, ‘Tin-Tin’, is up to her usual hilarious antics, while being indulged by her beloved ‘Bam-Bam’. Will crazy best man Sola succeed in getting close to the feisty Yemisi and does Nonso go all the way with Deardre, after that surprise kiss at the end of the last movie. And, of course, there is another wedding. Who will it be this time and why are they all in Dubai?

The fun and intrigue play out against the backdrop of Dubai’s most jaw-dropping locations and the characters get to sample the Nigerian visitor’s favourite pastime – shopping. Even for movie fans who have visited before, it promises to be a revelation of Dubai’s best attractions and most elegant hotels, including Atlantis, Armani, Palazzo Versace and the Ghaya Grand. The film is also supported by Diageo and its premium brands.

Mo Abudu, Executive Producer for EbonyLife Films, is delighted to be in Dubai for the shoot. “Ever since Dubai Tourism partnered with us on the Grand Premiere of The Wedding Party, it’s been my dream to bring the sequel here. With a great script by Naz Onuzo, an experienced director, Niyi Akinmolayan, the original cast and the beautiful sights and sounds of Dubai, we think we may have a bigger blockbuster on our hands.”

In an all-out attempt to broaden the appeal of this much-anticipated sequel, the producers, The ELFIKE Collective, have added a number of popular Nollywood stars and personalities, including Patience Ozokwo aka Mama G, Chigul, Seyi Law and Elenu, and international cast members. With scenes shot in Lagos, London and Dubai, the film promises to be a visual feast.

Comedian Ush Bebe talks about Public Perception Of Entertainers

Most people have difficulty separating entertainers and celebrities from their acts. Actors, comedians, and musicians usually suffer from such perceptions by the public. While some of these celebrities actually do retain their professional person in their people relationships, comedian and radio presenter Justice Emonaerere Nuagbe, aka Ush Bebe has come out to say that that shouldn’t be the norm. According to him, professional entertainers shouldn’t be judged by their trade.

Hear him: “I’m an actor, so if I come and do stuff and you want to classify me by what I’ve just done, then you have a problem. You need to know me personally. So, if you know them personally and classify them as wayward, then congratulations, but if you don’t know them and you’re doing it, then (re-enacting Falz) ‘well done sir, well done ma’”, it’s your P. But (seriously when it’s someone’s else’s job, you need to give them a bit of space…try to understand them and know them more before you judge them.”

He said even though it’s easy to consider people like bankers and doctors as serious people, that he could only pass a jugdgement on their personality when he knows them outside their work. We cannot agree more with him on this one. The message is clear, not only for your perception of celebrities, but for everyone else: don’t judge a book by its cover. Well said Ush Bebe
